Non-Scholarship (College Program)

For those students who were either not selected for or did not apply for the 4-Year National or other scholarships during high school or college first-year students or sophomores who are interested in pursuing the Naval Service as an officer, the NROTC College Program is the path for you.  In addition to Scholarship midshipmen, the Tulane Battalion is made up of numerous College Program students who are actively applying for an NROTC scholarship while also participating in the unit and completing program requirements.

College Program midshipmen are full-fledged members of the battalion and participate in all the same training and activities as the Scholarship students; they also have all of the same responsibilities and demands upon their schedule.  The only difference between the two paths is that College Program students do not receive financial benefits until they are awarded a scholarship.  In a typical Tulane NROTC incoming freshman class, approximately one-third of students will be in the College Program; sophomores are eligible as well.  A typical College Program student will have three opportunities to earn a scholarship during their first two years of college.  As a College Programmer, you are also eligible to compete for in-house scholarship monies via two NROTC endowments; click here for details on the E.V. Richards and William Waller Young Scholarships.

If you are interested in joining as a College Program midshipman, please find the application below and fill them out completely.  Applications for the 2018-2019 school year will be accepted until June 1st, 2019, and should be submitted to navy@tulane.edu.  Prospective students who are interested in joining mid-semester should contact the unit, as those requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.  Questions may be directed to the freshman advisor via email or at (504) 247-1605.
